Acyclovir Indications:

HSV infection of the skin, eg initial and recurrent genital herpes & cold sores.

Dosage:

Apply 5 times a day about 4 hrly omitting the night dose. Continue for 5 or 10 days if healing does not occur.

Zovirax cream is used for: Treating cold sores on the face or lips that are caused by the herpes virus. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Zovirax cream is an antiviral. It works by stopping viral replication.

However, Zovirax cream does not eliminate the herpes virus, it is not a cure, and it does not prevent transmission to others.

How to use Zovirax cream in USA:

Wash your hands with soap and water before and after using Zovirax cream. Wash and dry the affected area completely.

Apply the medicine only to the affected area and not to the surrounding skin. Gently rub the medicine in until it disappears.

Wash your hands after using Zovirax cream.

Do not rub the cold sore. Rubbing the cold sore can make it worse. It can also cause the cold sore to spread to other areas around your mouth. To completely clear your infection, use Zovirax cream for the complete treatment treatment. Keep using it even if you feel better in a few days. For best results, use Zovirax cream at the first sign of a cold sore (tingling, redness, itching or bumps).

If you miss a dose of Zovirax, use it as soon as possible.If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at the same time.
